Sex Positive vs Sex Negative

I was asked what i meant by the term "sex positivity" which is weird because it's not like i made up the term. He also asked if there were any restrictions or boundaries that were not considered  sex negative?

Sex positivity means that human consensual sexuality is not shameful and is a thing to be celebrated and explored. So the boundary/restriction exists that consent is required. Sharing ex gf pics or rape and sexual assault are therefore not sex positive.

Sex negativity sees sexual acts outside of certain imposed restrictions, even if consensual, can and will lead to things like rape culture or societal breakdown. The logic then follows that their standards will prevent what they perceive as a big problem leading to a larger widespread problem down the road. Hense imposing their standard on all will prevent this hypothetical dystopia.

The idea is that the wrong sexuality itself is a problem that needs solving, whereas sex positivity celebrates an individual's right to sexual exploration while promoting safety and consent.

One position is not objectively right or wrong as both care about safe sexuality, they are just 2 schools of thought with 2 different ideas of what that means that directly conflict with each other.

On the subject of male sex toys

Yeah i'm going there. Now i'm not going to harp on about MAI INEQUALITIES! Waaaah why is it acceptable for women to use sex toys and not men? Waaaah.
Look, women hide their sex toys just like men do. There's a general air of shame for liking sexual gratification that i'm baffled by. It's like wtf happened to the sexual revolution guys? Both women and men are shamed for natural biological urges. Wether those urges are above or below what is considered "normal" it's shamed by someone somewhere in some way. It's a spectrum, not a standard. Just don't judge other people's sex drives based on your own standard that may have been shamed into you growing up. Be it through religion, or ideology, or some societal thing, just push that shaming conditioning out of your brain and be honest about yourself and your drives. I used to be shamed about either not having enough sex or having too much. There's a great video about it i'll link here.

So Topcat, when you gonna talk about Sex Toys? Well i felt i needed to address the problem with shaming of non traditional sexual acts, even in today's society on a sex positive channel on youtube. That said SourcefedNerd is one of the BEST and more open minded geek channels on youtube, this is not a damnation of them AT ALL. It's more a comment on our society in the west as it stands today.

Overall a good video from a mainstream geek youtube channel except the one aside by Maude of "why not get a real girlfriend". The video even addresses the stigma attached to using a sex toy. The reason I subscribe to SourcefedNerd is they'll usually talk about stuff openly with a brief explanation about stigma and that we should all be understanding etc.

I didn't address Maude's aside because it's so much part of our cultural atmosphere it'd almost be weird if she didn't react that way. I'm guessing statistically guys have higher sexual needs than women generally and increasingly less avenues for it the more things get censored or outright banned in the west. Also the shifting standards on etiquette and approach to sex in the modern PC era of constant consent removing most of the romance and spontaneity from sexual encounters, turning it into a robotic form filling chore, makes it clearer why people would prefer just skipping the potential threat of rape accusation and just fucking an actual robot. It's not that this is at epidemic levels, it's just so random and sporadic and expected by some as a norm that there's no prior communication about the standards your date may or may not have in terms of protocol. It's why online dating is probably rising too, you have all your likes/dislikes on display. Remember when people talked to each other on a date and figured out what each other liked in person?

Anyways, do what you need to fellas to scratch that itch without potentially getting accused of assault. Find a good woman who KNOWS you (or man, no judgement here) who cares about your needs and who you can provide for their needs too. Took me a lot of trail and error and luckily i didn't let experience of crazy ex gfs hold me back for fear of being hurt or ruining a strong friendship. She doesn't have much of a sex drive compared to me but she understands that, and we talk about it and figure it out.

Do i have a sex toy, yes. Will i be getting this indiegogo one? No, not my thing. But if it's your thing go for it. Happy humping.

I've been mocked in many ways that had nothing to do with hatred of women or femininity. By all means, stop misogyny, but i can multitask and stop misandry as well. Stop telling me i should stop doing that. How? Simple. Stop any attack on any individual based solely on that person's gender. Stop individuals being judged by a group-think mentality that harbors ill will towards attributes that individual has no control over, that they were born with (sex, race, skin tone, sexual orientation). Once we stop genderising oppression and start calling out all oppression as wrong as a united front will we stop gender division, segregation, and the us vs them mentality that is poisoning our culture.
